US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in a statement Wednesday that President Donald Trump holds China responsible for covering the COVID-19 pandemic.
Last month, Pompeo said he believed the world would “pay the price” on China for the ongoing global health pandemic caused by the coronavirus.
“I am very confident that the world will look at China differently and engage with it in fundamentally different ways than it did before this catastrophic disaster,” Pompeo said.
Market mood remains cautious after disappointing macroeconomic news in the United States and increasing coronavirus cases around the world.
The above comments could weigh more on risk sentiment as optimism over the U.S.-China trade deal wanes.
