US President Donald Trump took to Twitter to update his phone call with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, whom he called a “ special man. ”
Trump tweeted: “I just had a wonderful conversation with my friend Prime Minister @AbeShinzo of Japan, who will be leaving office soon. Shinzo will soon be recognized as the greatest prime minister in the history of Japan, whose relationship with the United States is the best it has ever been. Special man! “
It comes after Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said Prime Minister Abe said Trump’s policy of strengthening the Japan-American Alliance would remain unchanged even after he left.
USD / JPY was little changed in the Trump-Abe phone call, as the spot remains divided between widespread US dollar weakness and the rally in Asian stocks.
The spot, currently, adds 0.14% on the day, trading around 105.50.
