Retail sales in the euro area fell again sharply in April, against a backdrop of foreclosure measures and a fallout from the virus epidemic. Again, this is not surprising since April is supposed to be the worst month of the crisis and it is reflected here.
The nearly 20% drop in retail activity year-on-year illustrates this notion.
